Bri Tyler

Student Support and Guidance Department

Bri joined Otto Specht School in September 2024 as a member of the Student Support team and the Guidance Department. She holds a B.A. in English and an M.Ed. in School Counseling. Prior to returning to graduate school, she ran a small family business baking homemade pies. When the pandemic brought that chapter to a close, she felt called to deepen her work with young people and pursued school counseling. Bri has since worked in public schools and now brings a thoughtful, steady presence to Otto Specht. Her connection to this community reaches back to childhood, when she attended The Nature Place, and later returned to work there during her college years. Waldorf education has long been woven into her family life. Her parents studied Waldorf education in England, and her father is now a resident at the Fellowship, deepening Bri’s lifelong connection to and appreciation for this educational philosophy and community.

What have you taught or led here? Any specific grades, subjects, or programs? Any key milestones or contributions?

I have brought my school counseling skills here and have also enjoyed bringing some of my baking experience here as well. I enjoy working with all ages and love all of our students so much.

What do you enjoy outside of school? Any hobbies, languages, family details, or connections to the Chestnut Ridge/Waldorf community you’d like to share?

I grew up coming to this community. I went to the nature place as a child and then worked there during college. My parents both studied to be Waldorf teachers in England before my brother and I were born. My dad currently lives at the fellowship.

Is there anything you’d like us to include that hasn’t been covered above?

I love Otto Specht so much!
