A School Where Your Child Is Truly Understood

For students grades K–12 with learning, social-emotional, sensory processing, and communication differences, Otto Specht School offers a personalized, nature-based education where every child can belong, shine, learn, and thrive.

If school has been a struggle…you’re not alone.

Many families come to us after trying other schools that just don’t fit.

  • Your child may feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or anxious.

  • Traditional classrooms may not meet their needs.

  • You may be searching for a place where they can finally feel confident and successful.

At Otto Specht School, we honor each child’s individual development, and offer respectful support as they navigate their own unique path of growth.

Can you see your child at Otto Specht School?

Otto Specht students have been given many different labels, and identify in many different ways.

No matter the label, no matter the identification, your child is accepted and celebrated at Otto Specht School.

A Different Kind of Learning Environment

Our Waldorf-based program is intentionally designed for students who need a more individualized, more human, and more connected educational environment.

Nature-Based Learning

Students learn both indoors and outdoors on our beautiful campus, grounded in the rhythms of the natural world. Space is given for unstructured and imaginative play, growth, and connection.

Creative & Hands-on Education

We support diverse learners by nurturing intellectual curiosity, creativity, and academic growth. Students are challenged while receiving the individualized support they need to succeed.

Visual arts, woodworking, music, speech, cooking, gardening, handwork, animal care, and movement are not occasional additions - they are integral to our curriculum and school philosophy.

Individualized Support

Small class sizes and highly-personalized approaches meet every student where they are in their development. Executive functioning and general life skills are supported with care and intention through Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, and psychological support. IEP’s are honored and upheld.

Community Care

Everything we do is built on a foundation of strong, trusting relationships. We know students are free to learn when they feel safe, respected, and supported.

  • "At Otto Specht, my son feels safe, and he feels loved. He feels this is his home and it has helped his self-esteem in ways that nothing else could."

    Yara Goldstein, parent

  • "I never would have imagined this, but our child now looks forward to attending school. He respects his teachers and is making meaningful connections with his peers. And he's learning. Every day, he comes home excited to share what he learned at school."

    Melissa Petro, parent

  • "Otto Specht has changed our lives. We finally found a community of families and teachers who 'get it'; who don't want to change or fix our child; who accept him for who he is. We finally feel confident that our son is in a place where he will be given a fair chance to thrive."

    Marc Baron Ginsburg, parent
